Lucifer is coming back to Netflix for season five. It doesn’t look like the series will appear soon due to the disturbances caused by COVID-19. Here’s an update to what we know about season five of Lucifer on Netflix.

Lucifer Season 5: Release Date

Seasons 1 and 2 both were released back in 2016. The first season was launched at the beginning of the year and the second was released in September. Then, season 3 hit screens in October 2017 which looked like it would be the last, before season 4 four dropped in May 2019. But the current pandemic situation has caused a wave of disturbance. The announcement of season 5 was done back in June 2019. Rumours also said that the series might hit the screen by either July or August 2020. Well, it is now official that Season 5 will be launched on August 21.

Lucifer Season 5: Plot

The final episode of season 4 sees Lucifer return home to help contain hell, which is now spilling into Los Angeles. Chloe and Lucifer also reveal their love for each other with Lucifer saying “his first love was never Eve.” Throughout season 4, fans saw Chloe struggle to come to terms with the fact Lucifer has a demonic side which is why the introduction of Eve made sense. Season four sets up future seasons with the demons back home in hell now knowing that Lucifer never intends on returning home. The episode closes with Lucifer saying his final goodbye to Chloe as he returns home albeit hopefully only temporarily.

Season 5 will answer questions such as will Eve return in future seasons? Will Lucifer return from Hell? Eve departed by the end of season four, but fans do not believe that her story has completed yet either. She clearly made amends and saw the error in her ways throughout the season. She’s now gone off to find herself but could easily be bought back later. Unlike season 1, Lucifer won’t be able to strike a deal to return to Earth. He’ll have to find a replacement ruler for the underworld to prevent it from spilling into the real world. Lucifer would opt to ask one of his other siblings. Some have speculated that Lillith (Adam’s first wife) could return with Eve saying that she “tamed the beasts of the night”.

Lucifer Season 5: Trailer

As of now, we do not have any news on the trailer or the teaser. Netflix claims to release the trailer as soon as they decide on the launch date.
