The Statement Made by Aamir Regarding the ‘Growing Intolerance’ in the Country

According to several sources, the hashtag for the boycott started rising when a portion of the internet unearthed excerpts from an interview that Aamir gave in 2015 in which he discussed the “increasing intolerance” in the country. Aamir had previously stated, in the course of an event, that “As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is occurring, we see it on the news, and obviously, I have been frightened.” I can’t deny it. A number of recent occurrences have made me quite concerned.

He went on to remark, “Whenever I have a conversation with Kiran at home, she always asks, ‘Should we relocate outside of India?'” Kiran’s statement is both catastrophic and significant; she should not have made it. She is worried about her child. She is concerned about the environment that will be surrounding us here. Every morning, as she cracks open the newspaper, she is overcome with dread.

After some time had passed, Aamir provided clarification, stating that his statements had been taken out of context and that he had no intention of causing harm to anyone. Because of this misunderstanding, I was harmed, and along with me, many other people have been hurt as a result of this. I have to give credit for this to the media since you have all perverted the meaning of what I said. “I beg you all, please don’t do that,” Aamir told the people in the room.

“Let me assure you that I never made such a statement.” I was born in India, and it is also where I intend to end my life. I’ve never considered leaving the country in my life. Neither Kiran nor I are going to give it any thought. In point of fact, I get homesick after being away from the country for a period of two weeks.
